Good morning Ancestors, Seniors, Mates, and Able Juniors. Warm greetings always.
Today marks one month in office for the current national EXCO headed by Arc. Dr. Asema Achado. Below are some of the actions and successes recorded within this period.
• The President, Arc. Asema Achado has personally donated the sum of two million naira (N2,000,000) so far to the OBA.
- 1,000,000 as seed fund to Health Insurance Fund.
- 500,000 for welfare.
- 500,000 as prize money to be won by the best performing set for the year.
• The President attended the Abuja chapter of the OBA on 14th Oct. 2023 and reiterated his OBF agenda. He also donated 50,000 naira for entertainment.
• Constitution of a committee led by the Vice President to reconcile Austin Amedu (BlackFace)and Innocent Idibia (2Face).
• On inauguration day, the President and EXCO constituted and inaugurated committees with clear mandates to deliver on set goals.
Some achievements of the constituted committees so far include:
HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE
- With the seed fund of N1 Million by Mr. President, calls for members to contribute to the fund have begun in earnest while a sensitization material has been developed and is awaiting general feedback to get started. (see attached corresponding image)
The committee also had a fruitful engagement and orientation of the Abuja city chapter on the health scheme.
RESOURCE MOBILIZATION COMMITTEE (RMC)
- The committee which had 10 inaugural members, has since received nominees to join the group from the following sets: 1985, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2013, and 2014.
- Set Presidents yet to send in their nominees are encouraged to do so ahead of the upcoming inaugural meeting where the terms of reference would be given by the MSGOBA worldwide president. A date for the inaugural meeting will be communicated soon.
WELFARE COMMITTEE
- Committee identified with the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Matthew Abo, after his release from captivity.
The committee also identified with the President General of Mzough u Tiv worldwide, CP Iorbee Ihagh (Rtd), over the loss of his wife.
WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
- Registration on the website has grown from a paltry 100 to 599 members as of today following sustained publicity and membership drive through leveraging set levels and the national association’s social media platforms.
- Intensive training has been scheduled for all set PROs and other ‘select’ persons who will help drive the registration process and seamlessly coordinate/resolve complaints at the set level.
- Multiple Admins have been created and a user manual developed.
- The Website is now being updated with scheduled MSGOBA events.
CO-ORDINATION AND CONTACT COMMITTEE
- Successfully reached out to a good number of old boys in the diaspora thereby enhancing the growth of the association. Successes have been recorded particularly in the United Kingdom and North America (US, Canada, and The Caribbean).
- Renewed vigor across chapters as shown in recent Jos, Lafia, Makurdi, and Lagos meetings.
- Commenced efforts towards reinvigorating some ailing chapters with the mantra of OBF (Old Boys First).
SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
- Preliminary works cum assessment done on the collapsed section of the school fence.
- Promise/mobilization for construction of 2 boreholes by Mr. Mtom Joseph Aondona.
As a body, the EXCO and the entire MSGOBA
- Identified with our National President, Hon. Arc. Asema Achado FNIA, KSJI, on the conferment of an honorary doctorate by the University of Mkar, Mkar.
- Felicitated with Dr. Hwande on his well-deserved appointment as CMD, BSUTH.
- Celebrates and identifies with all members of the MSGOBA in their various pursuits and recognitions.
We remain resolute in deepening the unity of the MSGOBA and promoting the well-being of every member through the Old Boys First agenda. All should kindly key in.
