Fr. Vealumun Mom, VC was born on 12th September, 1980 into the family of Hon. and Mrs Sebastian Mom (Old Boy) from Guma Local Government of Benue State.

 

He began his elementary education at Happy Home Nursery and Primary School and completed at First Baptist Primary School, Makurdi, Benue State. Next up was MSG where he graduated in 1997 and proceeded to St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi.

 

Fr. Mom also attended National Missionary Seminary of St. Paul, Abuja, National Teachers Institute, Kaduna and Querétaro Language School, Mexico and obtained various qualifications including Bachelor of Philosophy, Bachelor of Theology, PGD in Education, Certificates in Basic and Church Spanish, Human Resources Management, Leadership and Management, Risk Management, Project Management, Business Management, Recruitment Skills and Public Relations.

 

He was ordained to the Catholic Priesthood on 26th June, 2010 in the order of the Via Christi Society. Since his ordination, he has held the following responsibilities/assignments and performed exceptionally;

 

- Catholic Chaplain, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

- Spiritual Director,      Cana Community, Sisters of the Nativity, Makurdi.

- Local Superior,          Via Christi Mother House, Makurdi.

- Associate Editor,       Catholic Star Newspaper, Makurdi.

- Court Chaplain,         Catholic Daughters of America, Marana- Arizona.

- Diocesan Chaplain,   Catholic Daughters of America, Tucson Diocese – USA.

- Member,       Diocesan Liturgical Commission, Tucson Diocese.

- Spiritual Advisor, Knights of St. John International – Commandery 593.

- Spiritual Director,      Immaculate Heart of Mary Apparition Ground, Makurdi.

- School Manager,       Angus Fraser Memorial High School, Makurdi.

- President, Formators Association of Nigeria (Northern Nigeria).

- National Coordinator,           Formators Association of Nigeria.

- Priest-in-Charge,       St. Anthony of Padua Church, Agwakume, Makurdi.

- Director,        Via Christi Farms.

- Chaplain,       Catholic Biblical Movement, Makurdi Diocese.

- Initiator, Bridget’s Angels Child Care Center.

Fr. Mom is a very dedicated member of MSGOBA and an asset to the class of ’97. His interests outside Priesthood, are in character formation for young people and teenage basketball development.
