SPOTLIGHT – BABA OJONUGWA J.F.O (BABASCO)

Baba James Fredrick Ojonugwa was born on 27th July, and hails from Odogomu in Ojoku district of Ankpa LGA, Kogi State.

 

He had his elementary and secondary education at Ternamdoo Nursery and Primary School, Makurdi and Mount Saint Gabriel's Secondary School, Makurdi, Benue State respectively.

 

He then proceeded to the University of Ilorin to study Performing Arts and majored in music and later went to Nnamdi Azikiwe University for post graduate studies in Mass Communication.

 

J.F.O sought and got employment into the Kogi State Civil Service in 2000 as a Cultural Officer with the Kogi State Council for Arts and Culture and and has since risen through the ranks to become an Assistant Director, an office he occupies till date.

 

His love for humanity led him to register and run an NGO to promote girl child education, which has for years continued to provide scholarship for underprivileged girls to stay in school up to Junior Secondary level.

This zeal to serve pushed him further to contest the House of Representatives seat for Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omalla Federal constituency in the 2019 elections under the Social Democratic Party.

 

The current PMAN Treasurer has proudly led in many capacities in the performing industry including serving as the 1st and 2nd Vice president of the umbrella union of All Nigerian Musicians, the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) and later acting as the National President during the demise of the then president. He also served National Treasuer of PMAN.

 

Baba Ojonugwa who is popularly called J.F.O in the music industry has six albums to his credit and it’s worthy to note that he, alongside Innocent Idibia also known as Tuface or Tu Baba pioneered the musical group in MSG back in the late 80s to early 90s called the BLACK UNIVERSE that won laurels for the school.

 

J.F.O is a complete performing artiste, an eclectic musician, prolific song writer, poet and author with three published books to his credit.
