SPOTLIGHT - JOHN AONDOWASE ACHIR
John Achir was born the second child into the family of Late Mr Innocent Dzuamo and Late Mrs Esther Nguamo Achir from Ushongo Local Government of Benue State.
His elder brother, Late Emmanuel Tersoo Achir, was of MSG Class of ‘89.
Robert F. Kennedy Nursery and Primary School Gboko was where he had his early education from 1982 - 1988 before proceeding to Mt. St. Gabriel's secondary school Makurdi from 1989 to 1994.
In his SS3, Fr. Fraser decided to throw open the post of the boarding students Head Boy and Assistant for all other classes to vote for suitable SS3 students. He emerged as the HeadBoy and Assistant Headboy in the election. Thus, a new post was birthed. Adviser to the Headboys with him being the pioneer Adviser to the Headboys. He was succeeded by Aondover Lawrence Utsaha. He was also a member of the cultural troop.
He gained admission to Federal Polytechnic Bauchi for his National Diploma (ND) in Estate Management from period 1998 to 2001. He served as The Secretary General of Community of Tiv Students and was elected as Vice President Estate Management Students Association (EMSA) while in Bauchi.
His work experience began in the form of Industrial Attachment at Kuma and Partners (Estate Surveyors and Valuers) Makurdi and Ubosi Eleh and Co (Estate Surveyors and Valuers) Abuja in 2000 and between 2002 and 2003 respectively. He worked with Oyom and Co (Estate Surveyors and Valuers) Abuja after his 1 year attachment between 2004 and 2005.
He went back to school, this time, Kaduna Polytechnic between 2003 to 2005, where he graduated with a Higher National Diploma(HND) in Estate Management. He served as the Secretary General of NFCS, Barnawa, Kaduna Polytechnic in 2005 and Electoral Committee Chairman, Community of Tiv Students Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter 2004/2005.
John did his NYSC in 2006 at Oye Local Government, Ekiti State. He was the Corps Liason Officer (C.L.O) and Coordinator/Papa of National Association of Catholic Corp Members (NACC) within this period ending 2007.
He returned to Abuja and continued to work with Oyom and Co, then worked as Facility Manager Suncity Estate Galadinmawa, Abuja between 2008 and 2009.
He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Project Management and Development from Institute of Development Administration of Nigeria in 2015.
In a strong show of MSG brotherhood, he would be recommended for employment in 2009 to J. U. Uzo and Associates (Estate Surveyors and Valuers) Abuja by the then Manager, Mr Eugene Okafor of MSGOBA SET '89 (presently, the Principal of Eugene Okafor Consulting Abuja).
In over 13 years of his working at J.U.Uzo, he has garnered experience in Facility Management, Property Management, Agency (sales and lettings), Valuation etc, and is currently Head of Department, Project Development. He has worked on numerous projects ranging from renovations, remodelling to new construction employing waterfall, hybrid and agile methodologies in practice.

A Gabrielite to the core, John Achir has served as the Vice Chairman of the MSGOBA REUNION AND DINNER which saw the Terna Nomhwange led exco bring Fr Fraser to Abuja. He was appointed the Interim Chairman of MSGOBA ABUJA CHAPTER in 2020 during the Terfa Ayabam Administration, a position he held until after COVID when the present Interim Executive of MSGOBA ABUJA CHAPTER was constituted. He is the current Chairman of MSGOBA SET 94 ABUJA CHAPTER, a position he has held for over 12 years
He is married to Mrs Helen Sewuese Achir and together thet have 3 lovely children.
