PATRICK IYUA CHENGE
Born 5th April, 1963 in Tsar-Mbaduku, Vandeikya LGA of Venue State. Patrick Chenge is the Last of 3 children from the family of Late Sir Francis and Lady Mary Chenge, from Vandeikya LGA of Benue State Nigeria.
He attended St.Patrick R.C.M Primary School Dagba in present Kwande LGA and R.C.M primary School, Ugye in present Vandeikya LGA and graduated in 1973.
He was at MSG from 1973 to 78.
While in MSG he was a Sanitary prefect and assisted in teaching students play the game of Chess. Patrick was particularly good in Mathematics.
He started his tertiary education at the then Murtala College of Arts Science & Technology (MuCAST), Makurdi in 1980 when he enrolled for Nigerian National Diploma (NND) in Civil Engineering, (later upgraded to HND). Due to ill health, he terminated the program after OND examinations in 1983.
He became a distributor of Benue Cement Company, Gboko thereafter at the tender age of 20 but, with the change in the Board of directors of the company in 1984, heralded by the termination of civilian rule, his distributorship was not sustained and he made attempts to get a job with Benue Cement Company. Unfortunately, the civil engineering department was not developed and he was advised to take up mechanical engineering to be employed in Benue cement coy.
Patrick however got another distributorship with the then Benue Bottling Company, Makurdi (producers of BEN brands of soft drinks). In 1988, he got admission into Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti to read Mechanical Engineering but after graduation at the National Diploma level in 1990, rather joined the service of Vandeikya Local Government Council as Assistant Technical Officer, Mechanical. He would later leave to enlist in the Nigerian Air Force in 1992 as a Non Commissioned Officer NCO. He disengaged from military service in 2000.
While in military service, Patrick attended many military courses and completed his Higher National Diploma in Mechanical (Building services) Engineering. He also took Continuous Career Development Assessment with Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineering (UK) and was admitted into the institution as a graduate member.
He is registered with Institution of Mechanical Engineers and also passed Nigeria Association for Technologists in Engineering professional examination in 2003 and is registered with the Association.

In 2005, Patrick joined the service of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. At that formative time of civil defence translating from a volunteer organization to Federal government paramilitary agency, he was very valuable to the corps as he brought his wealth of experience and knowledge acquired during his military career to impact on the corps. He retired from the service of Civil Defence on 5th April, 2023 as Assistant Commandant of Corps.
Patrick Chenge is happily married to Engr. Dr. Mrs. Ada Chenge and the marriage is blessed with 3 boys and 3 girls.
