Terhemen Hulugh was born on 27th September 1979 at the famous Mkar Hospital in Gboko to a civil servant, Simon Hulugh and a teacher, Late Mary Hulugh. He is the first of six children.

 

Terhemen had his primary education at Happy Home Nursery and Primary School, Makurdi where he graduated in 1990. He was admitted into Mount Saint Gabriel's Secondary School, Makurdi in the year 1991 and graduated 1996.

 

He subsequently gained admission into Benue State University, Makurdi where he acquired a B.Sc. in Economics in 2002. He did the mandatory NYSC at Government Secondary School Damaturu, Yobe State. He returned to Benue State University after serving his father land to obtain an M.Sc. in Economics in 2005.

 

Terhemen worked as Teacher with the Benue State Teaching Service Board, where he taught Economics at Tilley Gyado College Makurdi, between 2003-2005. He also had a career in banking with Diamond Bank Plc in Bonny Island, Port Harcourt and Asaba between 2005-2009. He spent a couple of years as a contract staff with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). He is currently a civil servant with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Abuja, where he is charged with the responsibly of collecting, validating and analysing data to enable management make evidence-based decisions.

 

He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Uk. He currently collaborates with professional colleagues to offer accounting services to clients.

 

Terhemen’s social life has revolved around football. He was an active member of the Benue State University football team that bagged a silver medal at the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) event held in ABU Zaria in 2001. He was captain of a local football team in Makurdi, Whiskers FC and also captained the Yobe State NYSC Football team durings his service year. During his banking years, he was an ever-present member of the Diamond Bank Football Team that won a bronze medal at the Bankers Games in Lagos in 2009.

 

Terhemen Hulugh is a strong believer in the One Big OBA mantra and as a result, he has been ever active in OBA activities at National, Chapter and Set levels. He has served as Treasurer of Set 96 OBA between 2004-2005 and then as Set President between 2014-2019 where he utilized his wealth of experience to not only boost confidence and financial inflow but also set up a sustainable financial reporting model for the Set that has ensured continued transparency and accountability even after he left office.

He was part of the party of old boys that visited Late Rev Fr. Angus Fraser in Garkawa. He was also part of the Central Planning Committee for the MSGOBA Reunion Dinner and also part of the CPC for the 25th Anniversary celebration of Set 96. He served as National Financial Secretary under the ACE - led administration and was able to use his skills and experience to improve not only the financial position of the OBA but also the financial reporting format which now conforms with International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS).

He was elected as the National Treasurer at the just concluded convention and this presents him with an opportunity to help strengthen the financial guidelines of the OBA.

 

He was recently appointed Secretary of the Resource Mobilization Committee by the National President - the committee charged with responsibility of raising funds to facilitate implementation of planned programmes and projects of the OBA Executive.

 

Terhemen Hulugh is married to the gorgeous and ever supportive Ngunan Hulugh (Nee Akpusugh) and they are blessed with three adorable kids (two Princesses and a future Madrista).

 

He loves to spend quality time with family and friends.

T. Hulugh is a great guy. Our set (96) forever values his leadership and the legacy he has left as Set President and Treasurer. He is an illustrous member of our set in the Exco of Arch Achado and we know he will help with the success of this exco as he did with the last one.
