Mr. Doocivir Yawe was born on the 8th December, 1972 at Takum local government area of Taraba state.
He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from the Central Primary School, Katsina-Ala after which he proceeded to Mt. St. Gabriel's Secondary School, Makurdi from 1985 to 1992.
In his senior year in St. Gabriel's, he was first appointed Assistant Food Prefect, popularly known as "Senator". Although, originally from St. Tuzinde, he would subsequently serve as the House Captain of St. Lwanga. He was an active member of the Press and Current Affairs club right from his junior days becoming the Club's President in his last two years in school. He was also an active member of the Drama Society and was part of the cast that scooped awards at the All Secondary School Arts & Drama competition at College of Education, Katsina-Ala.
Armed with his SSCE, he applied for and was admitted into the pioneer Law Faculty of Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi for the 1993/1994 academic session for his Law degree. Upon graduation from BSU, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja to undertake the Bar Part II one year practical training which is a prerequisite to be formally called to the Nigerian Bar. Having successfully completed the training and passed the prescribed examination, he was enrolled as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in February, 2003.
For his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Yawe was deployed to the NYSC orientation camp at Kubwa, Abuja and subsequently to the legal department of Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) corporate headquarters, Abuja for his primary assignment. On completion of the service year in September 2003, he was offered employment by NITEL in November, 2003 due to his dedication and commitment to service. Following the acquisition of the then telecom giant by Transcorp Plc, he was disengaged in April 2007 owing to downsizing of the company by the new owners.
Upon disengagement, he immediately plunged into private practice with Renaissance Law Consults, a law firm operating in Abuja. After a short stint in private practice, he took up appointment with the Federal Capital Territory Judicial Service Committee in October 2007 and was drafted to the Customary Court of Appeal, Utako, Abuja. He took his oath of office as a judge with the Customary Court on 2nd November, 2007. Since then, he has worked within the court system as a Presiding Judge in seven courts to date.
Within the MSGOBA family, he served as the President of his Class, the much famed Class of '91 between 2016 to 2020. On a bigger scale, Mr. Yawe has been the Legal Adviser of the MSGOBA from 2014 to date having been first appointed in that capacity by Dr. Terna Nomhwange, erstwhile President of our esteemed Association. As the Legal Adviser and with the robust assistance of the former visionary President, Mr. Yawe was able to coordinate the formal registration of our Association at the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja culminating in the issuance of a certificate. The exercise also gave birth to the Association's constitution.
He equally superintended over two elections of the Association. The first which ushered in the Mr Abraham Ayabam executive in 2019. Building on the success of the 2019 election, he was appointed by the National executive to once again Chair the 2021 election which successfully brought in Mr Emmanuel Coleman Adukwu as the President of the Association. Both elections were adjudged to be generally free and fair.
Mr. Yawe also led the team that conveyed the official letter of the Association to Very Rev. Fr. Angus Fraser at Garkwa for his investiture by the Old Boys at the Reiz Continental hotel, Abuja in late 2017. He was accompanied on the assignment by Mr. Gabriel Nyam of set 2000.
Within the FCT judiciary, he was elected as the Chairman of the Association of Judges of Customary Courts of Nigeria (AJUCCON), Abuja chapter. He held the position for a four year tenure between 2015-2019 where he worked effectively with the management for the welfare of his colleagues.
Mr. Yawe has attended professional and work related trainings/workshops both within and outside the country.
His hobbies includes meeting people, reading, playing chess and discussing contemporary issues. He is also an avid football fan. He is married and blessed with four children - a son and three daughters.
